Operational Risk and Internal Control Management

Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Support Operational Risk Committee by organizing regular meetings and preparing the agenda/materials to ensure effective risk governance.
  2. Actively manage strategic and operational risks to ensure they are identified, analyzed, communicated and mitigated. Propose risk treatment plans and monitor the execution status.
  3. Implement and maintain operational risk tolerance and risk limits.
  4. Lead or coordinate the development and implementation of operational risk and internal control policies and programs in order to enhance AIA China’s risk management capability
  5. Conduct risk assessment on major projects and initiatives
  6. Organize Risk & Control Assessment exercises and work with business functions on gathering and analysis of Op. Risk data
  7. Establish and maintain a process to capture, assess and trend loss incidents occurring in AIA China
  8. Manage C-ROSS Pillar II across the organization, including tracking regulatory development, organizing SARMRA and IRR reporting, leading gap remediation, advising management on improvement plan, etc
  9. Prepare regulatory and internal reports related to operational risk management.
  10. Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by supervisor in order to meet operational and other requirements.


Minimum Job Requirements:

  1. Bachelor or above Degree Holder in relervant field, e.g., Risk Management, Finance, Economics or equivalent disciplines.
  2. At least 5 years working experience in risk management, internal control, compliance or operations related positions; Experience in both 1st line and 2nd line of insurance company (or consulting firm) preferred.
  3. Ability to think laterally, to learn quickly and demonstrate commitment to high quality delivery.
  4. Having relevant risk management or finance certifications would be beneficial, e.g. FRM, CPA or CIA.
  5. Knowledge of risk management in one or more of the following areas: C-ROSS, operational risk, internal controls, COSO, SOX, etc; expertise in one or more business areas in life insurance is preferred.
  6. Fluent English and Chinese skills, good communication and presentation skills.
