POSITION: ACTUARIAL ASSOCIATE/SENIOR ACTUARIAL ASSOCIATE
The role will encompass supporting AIA Reinsurance in Corporate Actuarial activities and transactional quality assurance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Quarterly reserve aggregation, Risk Margin calculation, and associated analytics
• Quarterly Embedded Value (“EV”) calculation review and analytics
• Quarterly Bermuda Solvency Capital Requirement (“BSCR”) capital modelling and free surplus calculation
• Quarterly stress testing and risk concentration calculation; semi-annual Commercial Insurer’s Solvency Self-Assessment (“CISSA”) capital calculation; currency risk analytics
• Support Asset-Liability Management, including duration calculations
• Assist with annual risks and controls assessment, integration of risk management framework into operations, and maintenance of a processes, risks, and controls register
• Maintain a repository of cashflows and assumptions to support various actuarial and finance activities
• Assist with analytics for production of management reports, including variance and trend analyses
• Calculate Key Performance Indicators (“KPIs”) and maintain the KPI dashboard
• Support annual regulatory filings and ongoing monitoring of the Bermuda Monetary Authority (“BMA”) requirements
• Perform quality assurance of transactional underwriting models and documents, and risk transfer analytics
• Support the business planning and budgeting exercise
• Support reinsurance administration and claims management
• Carry out treaty performance analyses and maintain an inventory of treaties
• Maintain and enhance actuarial models and guidelines; documentation of actuarial activities and business process manuals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• University Degree in numerate studies or business discipline
• Actuarial Designation: aspiring ASA/FSA or equivalent; at least three actuarial exams, including life contingencies
• Minimum two years’ working in life (re)insurance actuarial roles
• Reserving, modelling, EV, or risk management experience desirable
• Understanding of financial reports (Income Statement and Balance Sheet)
• Technically proficient in MS Office applications (particularly MS Excel and MS PowerPoint); able to work with complex MS Excel spreadsheets
• Strong personal leadership skills with a results-oriented, “can do” attitude
• Demonstrates thought leadership, initiative, innovation and problem-solving skills
• Communicates effectively, both written and verbally; collegial approach to conflict resolution
• Is personally flexible, willing to travel and work outside of normal business hours, as required
• Ability to comprehend risk-based legislation and interpret how it will manifest in required enhancements to AIA Re’s operations, notably in the areas of actuarial valuation, capital modelling, and risk management
