This is a newly created role with the purpose to lead the Testing function within the Business Technology division to deliver successful and quality outcomes that meet the needs of our customers and organisational objectives.

 

Always keeping an eye on the bigger picture, the Test Manager will define and implement test and quality strategies and approaches, in consideration of industry accepted practice, for all stages of the project and system lifecycle.

 

What you will do:

 

Leadership

  • Lead the development and implementation of test and quality approaches, processes, procedures, and controls
  • Lead test initiatives and champion a testing discipline across the team and the wider community as appropriate
  • Prepare the organisation for the future by supporting the research and adoption of new testing strategies and approaches
  • Keep up to date with the latest accepted test and quality approaches and tools in line with test process improvement activities, and seek opportunities to implement within the business
  • Lead, coach and develop the Testing team, ensuring that capability and succession plans are in place. Build test team capability and capacity in order to meet the business and project needs including the recruitment of permanent and contingent workforce and vendor/partner capability and performance
  • Provide the Testing team with support and direction needed to achieve objectives, holding individuals accountable for their performance by providing regular and timely feedback
  • Drive a high performance culture within the team, with a focus on continued learning and innovation

Planning

  • Plan test capability and capacity to meet business needs with particular emphasis on test automation and agile delivery
  • Co-ordinate and develop capability in the areas of test techniques, test automation, planning and scheduling, test metrics and reporting, delivery of test outcomes and effective test resourcing
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the identification and allocation of appropriate resource, the time estimation for test and quality activities, and setting of priorities across all work

Delivery

  • Define and implement risk based test and quality strategies for achieving successful outcomes.
  • Lead the design and implementation of new test approaches and measure their effectiveness.
  • Provide overall direction to the test and quality team for all their delivery activities.
  • Measure performance against goals and evaluate results.

Process

  • Implement and manage test processes, procedures and controls for Test and Quality Assurance that support and are aligned with the overall strategic direction
  • Identify opportunities and provide recommendations to improve testing processes and the testing environment during planning, times of change or as part of your continuous improvement focus
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with the wider business to ensure the alignment of outcomes to their needs
  • Maintain awareness/ adherence to ORMF and all compliance obligations, completing CAPs as required

Risk

  • Establish a clear understanding of your personal responsibilities in the maintenance of Risk & Control Management and apply this to all activities
  • Support the identification of risks and implementation of controls to manage these across your work area

Other

  • Performs other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned in order to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements

 

What you will bring:

 

Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Advanced Test Management and Technical Testing skills
  • Strong grasp of test automation tools and implementation strategies
  • Thorough understanding of the principles involved in performance testing (load, stress, stability)
  • Strategic thinking and Roadmap / Change Experience
  • Performing complex analysis and problem solving in a mixed corporate and vendor software environment
  • Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills - analysis and ability to drive improvements based on evidential observation
  • Wide industry knowledge of IT related to the deliverables of the role
  • Can identify issues and develop risk mitigation strategies with sound problem solving skills
  • A strong operational leader experienced in managing the tactical components of running the daily business

Role Related Experience

  • 8+ years hands on experience in software testing (in a financial services / banking environment preferred but not essential)
  • Past experience in Testing Management roles in large highly secure IT enterprises
  • Practical resource management skills, and proven ability to manage a team
  • A background of working with multiple customers with competing and time bound demands
  • Experience with a variety of platforms

Qualifications

  • ISTQB (or ISEB) certified
  • IT/Engineering Degree Qualified (or equivalent) preferred, with good academic results
  • Formal training preferred:
  • Agile Essentials
  • Risk Based Testing
